Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies
As you may know, we offer fellowships for Ph.D. dissertation writing, for postdocs, and for faculty that is on sabbatical from their institutions. We support work in the social sciences, history, and public health and thereby strive to create a very interdisciplinary intellectual community.
We expect to offer the majority of the fellowships for the 2010-11 academic year to researchers that are working directly on issues we have identified as research priorities as described in the competition announcement (http://usmex.ucsd.edu/programs/visiting-fellows-program.htm).
We are currently carrying out research in social policy, public health, and poverty in Mexico. We may invite fellows to part of our in-house research projects, but for the most part researchers work independently on their own research. The deadline for receipt of applications is January 15, 2010. I would be very grateful if you would encourage your students and/or interested colleagues to apply.
