Ana Castillo is an internationally celebrated poet, novelist, short story writer, and essayist. Long considered one of the leading voices to emerge from the Chicana experience, Castillo is a prolific author whose 17 books in various genres have been critically acclaimed and widely anthologized in the United States and abroad. She will be reading excerpts form her latest novel, The Guardians, which focuses on the politics along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Come join a group of students, scholars, and community organizers working towards socio-economic justice. Inspired by the Zapatistas, our mission is to educate the ideas and issues surrounding the Zapatista movements through study groups and cultural activities while raising funds to support social projects in Zapatista communities. We discuss different struggles from below and from the left that take place locally as well as around the world.
