Nora Lustig is an expert in development economics and has focused her work on the causes of poverty and inequality and the Mexican economy. She is a visiting professor of International Relations at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University and serves as a board member at the Center for Global Development. During her distinguished career, Dr. Lustig has served as president of the Universidad de las Americas, Puebla, Mexico, as senior advisor and head of the poverty and inequality unit at the Inter-American Development Bank and as director of the poverty group of the United Nations Development Programme.
She was also co-director of the World Bank’s 2000/2001 World Development Report «Attacking Poverty». Dr. Lustig was co-founder and president of LACEA, the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
