Latin American Studies Internships
Mixteco Cultural Exchange Program:
In San Diego
Teach English or Spanish to Indigenous Mixteco Adults
Provide tutoring and educational activities to Mixteco youths
This is a great opportunity to learn about the Mixteco culture, practice your Spanish, and gain practical experience in language instruction.
Requirements:
Must be available to teach on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings in Linda Vista from 5:30-8:30 and help with cultural workshops on two Saturdays over the course of the semester. Some Spanish preferred, but not required.
ProSalud: In Tijuana
A health clinic specialized in community health education located in Tijuana, Mexico
Train to be a health promoter and visit maquiladoras, schools and other venues in Tijuana and deliver health education materials to young people and lead them in discussion.
Requirements:
Advanced Spanish and a commitment to work in Tijuana one full day a week over a two-semester period.
Earn 3 units of credit
through Latin American Studies or your major department*
