Fulbright Workshop
- There will be a special Fulbright Information Session on Monday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 PM for students.
- Mr. Tony Claudino, Outreach Director for the New York Student Fulbright program will make a presentation and respond to questions. Students planning to apply now, or those who are thinking of a Fulbright grant for next year, are welcome to attend.The SDSU Student Fulbright deadline is Sept. 27. There is still time to apply for an English Teaching Assistant grant (there are 600 ETA grants).

Indigenous Peoples and Cultural Revitalization in Baja California
- Two distinguished indigenous elders of Baja CaliforniaTeodora Cuero (Kumiai) and Leanor Farlow (Kiliwa)-0-will share stories and discuss ancient and contemporary lifeways of Baja California’s native groups. Anthropologist Michael Wilken will describe the lands and the people of their cultures through a presentation of photographs from 1890 to the present.

El actual Grito de Dolores
- Thursday, September 16 from 6pm to 10pm at the Centro cltural de la Raza.
- Some of the artists representing most of the nations south of our border have come from Argentina, Honduras, Mejico, Peru among others showing up specially for tomorrows opening. This is a fundraiser for the Centro where the art will be auctioned all month from Sept 15th to Oct 15 when we will have a closing reception sponsored by the Consulate de Mexico.

RMCLAS 2011 Annual Conference
- The 58th Annual Conference of the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Wednesday, April 6 through Saturday, April 9, 2011.
- The RMCLAS Program Committee is now accepting panel and paper proposals on general topics in Latin American Studies.
- Please provide us with your name, affiliation, electronic address, the paper title, and a short abstract (not to exceed one page). The deadline for panel and paper proposals is December 15, 2010.

Haitian Creole Language Instruction Opportunity
- Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC) at Florida International University is currently accepting applications for its 13th Annual Haitian Summer Institute in Miami, Florida. The Institute features intensive language training in Haitian Creole at both the Beginning/Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced levels, as well as a Haitian Studies Seminar Series and a FLAC Lecture Series.
- The program is FLAS-approved.
- Eligible non-FIU students who are interested in enrolling in the Institute are invited to apply for FIU FLAS Fellowships in Haitian Creole by contacting Joanne Virgille, Coordinator, LACC Academic Programs at jvirg001@fiu.edu Students are encouraged to apply ASAP.

- Here is the link to an excellent web page with comprehensive data on indigenous farm workers in California. It includes data on various regions of California and on the communities in Mexico from whence the workers come. A significant proportion of these workers are from Oaxaca.
